When it comes to makeup, those with oily skin must be careful about the products they use. Since online stores for makeup are packed with plenty of choices, choose wisely. If you use the wrong products, your face can end up looking greasy and cakey. But if you use the right products, your face can look flawless.

If you have oily skin, here are some things to do and not to do:

Do choose a primer that is oil-free. There are a few reasons why an oil-free primer is a good idea for those with oily skin. First, it can help control shine and keep your face from looking too greasy. Second, it can help to minimize the appearance of pores. And third, it can create a smooth canvas for your foundation or concealer, making it easier to apply and blend evenly.

Don’t choose a primer that is too heavy or thick. This can actually make your face look oilier. Instead, opt for a lightweight formula that won’t weigh down your skin. You need all products of makeup, including primer that’s light and airy so it doesn’t clog your pores or make your face look greasy. And you don’t want to see your makeup slide right off your face. So, avoid heavy, creamy formulas.

Do choose a primer that contains mattifying ingredients such as silica or kaolin clay. These ingredients will help absorb excess oil and keep your face looking matte throughout the day. For instance, at a discount, you can get Maybelline BABY SKIN Instant Pore Eraser from This lightweight, breathable formula contains silica and comes with non-comedogenic properties, leaving your skin with a smooth, matte finish – without looking sticky or greasy.

Don’t forget to fix your makeup with powder once you are done applying it. This is effective for controlling excess shine, and your makeup will stay on all day long with this little trick.

Oily Primers for Squeaky Clean Skin
A few different types of primers work well for oily skin. One option is to go with a mattifying primer. These formulas help absorb excess oil and give you a matte finish. If you tend to get shiny throughout the day, this can be an excellent option for you.

Another option is to choose a primer with built-in SPF. This is always important, but it’s especially vital if you have oily skin. That’s because sunscreen can often make oily skin look even shinier. So by opting for a primer with SPF, you can kill two birds with one stone.

Finally, don’t forget about setting powder. This isn’t technically a primer, but it’s something that can help keep your makeup in place and control shine throughout the day. If you have really oily skin, the setting powder may be a necessity for you. Just remember not to go overboard – too much powder can make your face look cakey and dry.

A Word of Advice: Always maintain a healthy skin care routine using the best skin care products

We’ve tried so many different primers, but most of them don’t work for oily skins. But we’ve finally found a few that actually do help control the oil and keep my makeup looking fresh all day long.

The first primer we want to recommend is the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. This stuff is fantastic! It’s oil-free and really does help to control shine and keep your makeup in place all day long. It also works amazingly to help smooth out your complexion and minimize pores.

Another excellent option for an oily skin primer is the benefit POREfessional Face Primer. This one is also oil-free and helps to control shine while minimizing pores. It’s a bit more expensive than the Smashbox primer, but it definitely works well and is worth the price.

If you’re looking for a more affordable option, the e.l.f Mineral Infused Face Primer is also a great choice. This one isn’t quite as good as the other two at controlling oil, but it still does a decent job and helps your makeup stay in place throughout the day.

So those are three of our favorite primers for oily skin. Of course, we’d love to hear your recommendations, so let us know in the comments below.
